About Genevieve Mook
Gen is a multimedia artist who received their BA in Film from Vassar College in 2025. They enjoy the outdoors, music, rocks, thinking about different ideas, bike rides, and reading when it feels good. They recently completed a two month residency at NES artist residency in Iceland.

ARTISTSTATEMENT
Gen views film as a way to collect and contain moments: each project a new accumulation (or emptying) of observations, a series of windows, doorways, descriptions. Their art practice also involves photo, print, and drawing.
Right now they are exploring filmmaking as an everyday process… Building stories through noticing and composing images most days. Inspired by experimental nonfiction filmmaking processes, they are currently working on a ‘list film’, using essay/diary film and structuralist techniques to frame their time spent in Iceland, New York, and the moments of transitions between these places.
FILM STATEMENT:
A film is a series of sentences, highlighted. Moments framed in one place (here) and then reframed in another (there).
